A coworker sent me a link to this article, that got me a bit upset. The author is trying to say that a Prius is harder on the environment than an H2. The guy makes a bunch of assumptions to support his opinion, many of which are just plain stupid (for instance, he assumes a lifespan of 100K miles for prius and 300k miles for H2). The article was essentially picked apart by many discussion groups including slashdot.
I was still kind of torqued thinking about this (after wasting time to research the author's assumption and sending a point-by-point debunking email to my coworkers). It seems every person looking to justify our wasteful habits has started parroting this article. So I drew this cartoon. I feel better now.
In the spirit of full disclosure: We are very happy owners of a 2003 Prius (black). Our next car will be a Prius as well.
